By removing the need to stop and pay and for roll-through tollbooths to collect cash, electronic ticketing and contactless technology beats the bottlenecks on highways, tunnels and bridges. With interoperable systems, Thales also enables closer co-operation between rail, tram, bus, parking and other service operators for multi-mode transport.
The company is also providing automated signalling systems for the monorail, part of a new urban transport system for the capital of the Brazilian State of Amazonas.
The consortium led by Thales with Trakce has signed a modernisation contract valued at over €76 million (316 million PLN) with PKP PLK, the Polish rail infrastructure operator.
